Day 50

Well the teething fairy(monster) has come to visit. Gavin is getting his first two teeth. Right lower canine and top front. The canine is already through the skin and poking out a little, the top front is still kinda just hanging out. He is MISERABLE, full of drool, and just not happy. I took him to the doctors the other day, and he is now 26 inches long and a little over 17 pounds... Wow... He is growing so fast!!! We tried green beans today. He seemed to like them, although you wouldn't be able to tell from the picture. He was covered in them. That was only because he kept laughing at mommy while she was making funny faces at him.

Well the rolling over is getting better and better. Now he can get himself up on his hands and knees and rock... So I know its just a matter of time until I have to baby proof the house. Then I will really have my hands full. He is just amazing to watch grow and do new things... I never really knew that I could be so amused by drool, and gas and his laugh. He laughed yesterday for a full 10 minutes straight. Anytime I would try to say something he would laugh, I would laugh and it would make him laugh harder. So needless to say, I was in tears on my front porch just laughing my butt off. All the neighbors could hear him, so they came and joined in. It was quite amusing for all of us.

Well I don't really have too much else to report.

Day 44 22 Feb 2009

Sorry it has been a while since I have posted, Gavin is keeping me very busy. However, progress is still being made. He can now roll from his belly to his back and from his back to his belly. That happened this morning, and since he now knows he can do this, he rolls away when he is being changed. Frustrating, but adorable at the same time... Oh and no more stinky poop. Since I have changed his formula, you can't even tell that he pooped when he does. It is back to being soft and mushy... No straining to get it out either. (When did poo become so fascinating???) Gavin has really started laughing. At everything and anything. Me talking, random people in the store, and he is super tickleish. His laugh is just intoxicating.

I tried to sit down and fill in his baby book the other day. That didn't work out so well for me. I got sad, because Darrell and I would do it together, and now its just me doing it. I feel so bad because I am witnessing all of these amazing things, and I just get to tell him about them, he doesn't get to be here and see it too. I know that the chances of him being here for most of it would have been slim to none anyway with the crazy hours he works, but still. I did have Gavin on the webcam last night, and he rolled over for Daddy so that was really amazing. And he got to see his face when he laughs, which is the most adorable thing ever.

We went to Aunt Lesley's on Friday, and she was amazed at what a different baby Gavin is. Just super happy and content. Before when we would go over, Gavin would look at her and get upset or scared... Whatever it may be, but this time, he was all smiles... Needless to say, Mommy is much happier now!

Anyway thats all for now

Happy Sunday!

Day 39 17 Feb 2009

Yay!!! We rolled over today!!! When I was at the doctors last week she had me kind of concerned because Gavin hadn't rolled over yet. But today he did it. Not to mention he did it with Daddy on the phone... He tickled himself pink, started laughing and screaming. It was so cute. Darrell and I were so excited. He proceeded to do it about 5 or 6 more times until he decided he was too hungry to roll anymore and started throwing a fit. Not abnormal though.

It's so funny how protective I am of him. I never thought I would be, but I am. Probably too much so, but. Well we went to WalMart today to get a few things. I had him in the stroller in the infant carrier. When I got done I took him out of the stroller and put him in the car. The lady that was parked next to me went to back out of her parking spot and hit the stroller. The stroller was completely in my spot, not anywhere near hers. And I started freaking out... Completely forgot that Gavin was in the car. And the lady, who looked slightly intoxicated at 1015 in the morning, starts calling me all sorts of names, slurring her words... THANKFULLY Gavin was in the car, because I may have otherwise killed her had he been in the stroller.

Oh we got our new carseat tonight. I am super excited to try it out. And that will be first thing tomorrow when we go to Lowes to buy a new rug, since bamboo isn't very conducive to rolling over! Well anyway, that is all I have for tonight

Goodnight!

Day 37 15 Feb 2009

Good news here!!! Gavin seems to be back to his normal happy lovey sweet self!!! I didn't think that the change in formula would change everything almost immediately, but it did. He's back to putting himself to sleep, and he is sleeping on his back without having the horrible spit up like before. He is smiling and laughing at everything again. He just seems much more content now.

Valentines Day was eventful. Daddy sent me flowers, with a teddy bear on the front, and Gavin stole it from me..LOL!!! We went to dinner with some friends and Gavin sat and watched all the crazy couples walking around the restaurant. He was smiling at babies and people, and stealing my french fries off my plate and throwing them at people. It was quite amusing. Bree and Mathew, Charlie and Meagan all got a kick out of it. I not quite sure how the waitress felt about it though. Oops!

Well I don't really have much more!

Day 34 12 Feb 2009

Wow!!! What a day we had today... It was Gavins 4 month check up. He is currently 17 pounds even, 25 inches long, and his head is 45cm around (LOL!!! Mommys sorry bubba). He is doing amazing, and had all of his shots. There was a little bit of concern though. As I had posted earlier, the doctor at the urgent care facility had told me that he had RSV... Well Cpt Fowler listened to Gavins lungs, and he was CLEAR! She asked a few probing questions in regards to his eating ex. Has he been arching his back while eating, Has he been constipated, Has been crying more often while eating... ALL which I answered yes to. And, not to mention he had a terrible rash. She told me that he was allergic to soy. So I switched his formula over to the Similac Sensitive, which is a milk based lactose free formula. What a night and day difference it has been in just 17 short ounces. He didn't spit up at all, the rash went away, his three week long fever finally broke (even after the shots), he smiled today like he hasn't smiled since Daddy was home. And as I had wrote earlier, I normally have to rock him to sleep, since all of this has been going on (since Daddy left or shortly there after). Well I went to rock him to sleep after his bottle, and he looked over his shoulder and smiled at me, I smiled back. He played shy and then did it again, we went at it for like 5 minutes, so I thought to myself, thats what he used to do when daddy would try to rock him to sleep. I turned on the mobile, walked outside smoked a cigarette, came back in and he was making a little noise, so I went back outside and talked to Laura. I came back in and checked on him, and he was passed out!!!! He is back to my happy, sweet little boy and I am so excited for that!!!

Goodnight

Day 32 10 Feb 2009

Today was Gavins first big storm day. There was a severe thunderstorm warning and a tornado watch. We were sitting here enjoying tummy time and the next thing I know is the front door blows open. I go outside to look and chairs are blowing across the yard. Aunt Lesley called and told me that it was hailing at her house, so I ran to move my car under cover since Daddys was already in the back. I come back in the house and I am drenched and Gavin sees me and starts laughing because I apparently looked quite amusing. (Little does he know I was almost struck by lightning running back in the house...I felt the hair stand up on the back of my neck) Two seconds later thunder boomed and he started screaming. So for a good twenty minutes he was completely inconsolable.

Of course, the stupid storm had to hit at bath time, and last until his last feeding of the day... So he didn't get his usual bath, and was unusually hard to put to sleep. Good news is though, his congestion seems to be getting better, and he isn't really wheezing too bad any more. His four month check up is on Thursday, so I will give you guys all the facts and figures then.

Oh, Gavin decided to take a really long nap this afternoon, so I called Daddy and had him wake the boy up. Oh and did Gavin wake right up. He was extremely disappointed though that Daddy wasn't there to get him out of bed. But you have to make due with what you got I guess.

Goodnight

Day 30 8 Feb 2009

Its been a month today since Daddy left... And it has felt like an eternity. You may notice the absence of posts the last couple days. Gavin has RSV. Very mild, yet still upsetting and frustrating. I feel like it is my fault that he got it. I am not quite sure where he picked that up from, but I think I may just get a bubble and keep him in it.

He has started to get very very vocal. If I don't pay attention to him for one second he starts to yell at me. While very adorable, that boy has some lungs on him. Half of the time I think I may go deaf. Needless to say, I try my darndest to keep him entertained.

He loves to hear daddy on the phone, and loves to hold the phone while daddy talks to him, but he doesn't really say too much until I take Darrell off speaker phone. Then he goes crazy... Ooooing and aaahing... And laughing. Well I am being beckoned by him. Apparently he only wanted a 30 minute nap...

Goodnight

Day 25 3 February 2009

So we got our new internet hooked up today :D I thought that DSL would be slower than cable, but I can't really tell any difference. Gavin was mister fussy pants... He didn't want to nap at all, so hopefully he sleeps well tonight. I am crossing my fingers and praying that he does... Mommy needs a nap. He runs me ragged trying to keep him entertained. Sometimes I just need a break and I turn on babyfirsttv(I can only dance and do jumping jacks to make him laugh for so long), and we cuddle up on the sofa. I swear my TV has been hijacked...LOL

We tried bananas today... I think it went okay... He was way less messy than he was with the carrots. But that face he makes when he tries something new is priceless... I love it... So I guess its bananas tomorrow...

Gavin, I think finally got over the fact that daddy was in the phone and cooed at Darrell today. Before he would just look at the phone like I know thats Daddy but where is he... So that made both of us happy... Darrell almost sounded like he was going to tear up...

Well I am going to go get some shut eye... Goodnight!

Day 23 1 Feb 2009

Nothing much to report here today... Although little mister let me sleep in til 930, which felt amazing... He loves to be sung to and I have no problem using my vocal cords to appease him. Also loves to watch me dance like a crazy person... So needless to say he is tuckered and I am in dire need of an energy drink.

Got to talk to Darrell today, and so did Gavin... The picture is when we were talking to Daddy and he decided not to let me put clothes back on him after a poopy diaper... I must say he is stubborn like his momma... No better way to be...LOL

Well thats all for tonight...

Love

Rae
